I just uploaded the FS700 video.

Took a FS700 out for a spin a few weekends ago to shoot some 240fps! It was raining all weekend so I ended up shooting between the rain showers(no rain cover) for a few hours at the beach while my brother was kite surfing. Pretty much all the shots I got ended up in the edit, I know it’s kinda slow paced. Didn’t get nearly as much footage as I would have hoped.

One of the projects I worked on this summer can be watched online at tv3play.se.  It’s a reality show following men and women working in the Swedish Emergency Services and in the Police Force. Its a lot of fun shooting a show like this. Everything is real, and shot as it happens. Nothing is staged (except for the odd pick up shot). It’s essentially like the American show, COPS. All shot with Sony PMW530′s and GoPro Hero2.

Today my team wrapped a 6 week reality shoot on the west-coast of Sweden. Been an absolute blast and a privilege to work with these talented individuals!

Shot some XDCAM timelapses today. Even though I could have used my 5D mark III I opted for the PDW-530 because of the fast turnaround on the project. We shoot the reality/interviews with the 530 and everything gets delivered for editing/post on discs. Because the timelapses were shot during the day and all other material is shot IMX50 4:2:2 there is no reason to use a DSLR for this kind of timelapse. Ohh and the timlapse gets stitched together in camera!

Recently I purchased a Lowel Rifa ex 44 light. I used it for most interviews for the last project i shot. Brilliant design, fast setup, soft and nice quality output. I’m really happy with it! I ordered it from www.prokit.co.uk. They have great costumer support and fast shipping, highly recommend them!

For most of my setups i used the Lowel Rifa as key light and two dedo lights, one as 3/4 backlight and one background light. If needed I used a reflector mounted to a reflector holder as fill light.

I was hired to shoot an event at the end of last month. The assignment was to shoot a product launch from a major shampoo company. Presentations and interviews with marketing people, hair specialists and doctors, with some b-roll and pack-shots. Simple enough. I had just received my 5D mark III a few days earlier. I didn’t have time to try it out before the event because I was busy shooting a reality tv-show.

I have been using the mark II pretty much every day for the last year, so I’m well aware of that cameras shortcomings as well as its strengths. It was a great opportunity for me to not only test my new camera but also to get some money back on my investment. To get coverage we were two shooters. I shot with the 5D and the other shooter with the Sony Ex1. As always we were pressed for time so all the interviews had to be shot with quick setups. The directions for the interviews was to shoot “mtv style i think they called it” with my camera as an alternative angle where they wanted me to go of axis and shot with the main camera in the foreground. I used the kit lens that i got with the camera, the 24-105 f/4 L IS. Great lens for this kind of work! Perfect to use with smaller run and gun rigs like the Zacuto Target Shooter that I have in my kit. The lens is pretty slow at f4 but the awesome ISO performance of the mark III compensate for this very well. I think the IS makes it worthwhile, and for me grain is not something i worry about. I happily pushed the ISO to 6400 and I found the result acceptable, there is even a shot in one of the videos where I pushed 12800 and i still think it works, at least for work at this level. The 5D mark III is a great camera at this price point! I am very happy with it! The footage was sent of to an editor who did a great job. And here is the result.

I hope that I will have time to use the camera this summer. Just recently I signed up to shoot two longer reality projects. I’ll be shooting on the Sony PDW-530 and 700.
